La mostra presenta il lavoro complessivo che Giovanni Cocco ha dedicato all’arte del Burlesque in Italia dal 2007 ad oggi. Cocco ha fotografato le donne, i luoghi e gli accessori del burlesque, e ne propone, attraverso una sequenza di scatti, la sua interpretazione visiva. Il reportage, in parte pubblicato su L’Espresso nel 2008, segue le burlesque dancers dall'ideazione del personaggio alla costruzione di uno spettacolo: “Ho iniziato questo lavoro perché attratto dai colori, dalle forme delle acconciature, dagli abiti ma sopratutto dall'ironia di donne che, pur vivendo in una società ricca di stereotipi, non hanno alcuna difficoltà nel mostrare un corpo pieno di curve. Ho frequentato la scena milanese dell'Apollo Dancing dove ogni mese le showgirl dell'agenzia internazionale Voodoo De Luxe si esibiscono in numerosi spettacoli e quella romana del Micca club, che ha dato vita al Micca Burlesque Festival, dove nel maggio 2009, si sono alternate star internazionali”.

The exhibition presents the overall work that Giovanni Cocco dedicated to the art of Burlesque in Italy from 2007 to the present. Cocco has photographed the women, the places and the accessories of the burlesque, and proposes, through a sequence of shots, his visual interpretation. The reportage, partly published on L’Espresso in 2008, follows the burlesque dancer from the conception of the character to the construction of a show: “I started this work because I was attracted by the colors, by the shapes of the hairstyles, by the clothes but above all by the irony of women who, while living in a society rich in stereotypes, they have no difficulty in showing a body full of curves. I attended the Milanese scene of the Apollo Dancing where every month the show girls of the international agency Voodoo De Luxe perform in numerous shows and the Roman one of the Micca club, which gave birth to the Micca Burlesque Festival, where in May 2009, they alternate international stars.….
