….In occasione della mostra del World Press Photo 2019 a Matera Piergiorgio Branzi, in conversazione con Enrico Stefanelli, racconta più di cinquanta anni di sguardi sul mondo. Testimone del nostro tempo, Branzi ci accompagna nella sua Toscana, con le fotografie in bianco e nero degli anni Cinquanta, per passare da Mosca dove ha vissuto cinque anni come inviato Rai, da Parigi, per poi tornare a percorrere la nostra Penisola e arrivare alla sua ultima produzione, più sperimentale. "Potrà sembrare un’affermazione azzardata ma, a mio giudizio, fotografare è un’operazione compromettente. Compromettente perché quel fondo di bicchiere che conosciamo, e che capta quel lampo di luce che racchiude un frammento di realtà, è rivolto verso l’esterno, ma l’immagine proviene dal nostro intimo più profondo e nascosto: e ci racconta e ci smaschera." (**INGRESSO LIBERO**) ..On the occasion of the exhibition of the World Press Photo 2019 in Matera Piergiorgio Branzi, in conversation with Enrico Stefanelli, tells of more than fifty years of his looking at the world. A witness of our time, Branzi accompanies us in his Tuscany, with black and white photographs from the 1950s, to move on from Moscow where he lived for five years as a RAI correspondent, from Paris, to then return to our peninsula and arrive at his last, more experimental production.

"It may sound like a bold statement, but in my opinion, photographing is a compromising operation. Compromising because that bottom of the glass that we know, and that captures that flash of light that encloses a fragment of reality, is turned outward, but the image comes from our deepest and most hidden: and tells us and unmasks us” (Piergiorgio Branzi)
