Una mano scorre disegnando una linea sinuosa. Non sappiamo a chi appartenga ma, come nel Punctum di Barthes, ci cattura l’attenzione e ci muove lo sguardo lungo quella linea, quell’onda di chiaroscuri. Dirige come in una sinfonia, il pieno e il vuoto, la luce e l’ombra. Come un riflesso metafisico, un omaggio a Giorgio de Chirico, le immagini di Marina Sersale sembrano ispirarsi alla metafora della luce rivelatrice di quel vasto territorio del sogno e dell’inconscio, dove “ogni persona ed ogni oggetto pigliano…un aspetto più misterioso; sono i fantasmi degli esseri e delle cose che ci appaiono; fantasmi che una volta accesa la luce spariscono nel loro regno ignoto”.*

Marina Sersale è una fotografa autodidatta che vive a Roma, in passato regista di documentari, ora è una creatrice di profumi. Comincia a fotografare nel 2012 quando acquista il suo primo iPhone, postando le sue foto su Instagram. “La stratificazione della realtà e le sue infinite interpretazioni mi affascinano, perchè è reale non solo ciò che si vede ma anche ciò che si sceglie di guardare”.

A hand flows drawing a sinuous line. We don't know who it belongs to but, as in Barthes' Punctum, it captures our attention and moves our gaze along that line, that wave of chiaroscuro. As in a symphony, it directs the full and the empty, the light and the shadow. Like a metaphysical reflection, a tribute to Giorgio de Chirico, Marina Sersale's images seem to be inspired by the metaphor of the revealing light of that vast territory of dreams and the unconscious, where "every person and every object takes ... a more mysterious aspect; they are the ghosts of beings and things that appear to us; ghosts that once the light is turned on disappear in their unknown realm”.*

Marina Sersale is a self-taught photographer who lives in Rome, in the past director of documentaries, now she is a creator of perfumes. She began photographing in 2012 when she bought her first iPhone, posting her photos on Instagram. The stratification of reality and its infinite interpretations fascinate me, because it is real not only what you see but also what you choose to look at.
